Discuss the theme of "Woman Power" in EITHER "Phenomenal Woman," "Loose Woman," OR "Wonder Woman."
In Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou, the theme of woman power lies within her self confidence though the act of body language and gestures. the following lines in the first stanza reveals it.
"It's in the reach of my arms, the span of my hips, the stride of my step, The curl of my lips.
In "Phenomenal Women" by Maya Angelou, the theme is within herself and inner body. She describes herself with different gestures and the language she uses to describe a women inner body .
The idea of the power you can withhold in just being a woman is portrayed in "Phenominal Woman" by Maya Angelou. In the Poem, Angelou conveys that although she aesthetically did not fit into the standard consideration of beauty, she, with her womanly grace and feminine ways , had the power within herself, of just being a female, to entice and encapsulate in her charm everyone around her. That being a "phenomenal woman" was more than just the physical aspects but the way you make use of the aspects and drum it along to feminine guile is what makes the deal.
Woman power theme is presented in "Loose Woman" by Sandra Cisneros. The woman in the story is straightforward to say who she is and that you can hate her but she won't change."They say I'm a macha, hella on wheels, viva-la-vulva,fire and brimstone,man-hating,devastating,bogey woman lesbian. Not necessarily, but I like the compliment." This jam packed stanza really showed me her power, woman power. She listens to what people think and she owns what she think is a correct representation of herself, the rest is an exaggeration! I love this poem for all the strength it gives me after reading it..
I feel woman power is best described in Phenomenal Woman, by Maya Angelou. The poem is about the narrator who is describing herself with the utmost Self-Confidence. Stating that her body figure is bigger than most; she states "I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion models size." It is a very uplifting and a positive message for women who think down themselves.
In the poem entitled, "Phenomenal Woman" by Maya Angelou, the poem expresses the beauty of one's self from within and also the exterior. That no matter how different you may be from the expected societal looks, you are beautiful and therefore that confidence should reign supreme above anything else and accept who you are.
In "Loose Woman" by Sandra Cisneros, she shows woman power by expressing how she is. From her poem you can tell she is pro-woman by many of the words she put and by how she changes the masculine form of words to the feminine. For example, she puts Pancha VIlla instead of Pancho Villa, she writes macha instead of macho. In the poem she also wrote, viva-la-vulva, which is in reference to the anatomy of the woman she says live the vagina, maybe meaning long live the vagina. She takes words that are normally derogatory towards women like, bitch and witch and she accepts because she's a no nonsense, no bullshit taking woman and she is taking back all the bad words and turning them into something her.
they say I'm a macha, hell on wells, viva-la-vulva, fire and brimstone, mah-hating, devastating, boogey-woman lesbian, not necessarily, but i like the comment
this part of the poem shows how strong she is as a woman that no matter what anyone says about her she still going to hold her head high and keep moving forward in life. She ended the poem with not necessarily but i like the comment. saying yea ok cool im all that not to me but since you are wasting your time saying i am i like it.
In the poem "Loose Woman" by Sandra Cisneros, it speaks of the strength of a woman. She willingly speaks of herself the way that other people might find insulting because she doesn't care what other people say about her, she'll acknowledge it and even accept it as a partial definition of herself. She refers to herself as a bitch, as a masculine woman and she is proud of what she is and she won't allow anyone to change that. This reminds me of a song by rapper Eminem called "The Way I Am". There is a specific lyric in this song that very accurately describes the way this woman feels about herself, and how she accepts what people have to say about her and takes it as a part of herself. The lyric is..."I am what ever you say I am, if I wasn't, then why would I say I am?"
In "Phenomenal Woman" by Maya Angelou, the theme of woman power falls between her confidence as a woman and how proud she is by the type of woman she appears to be. She literally describes herself as a phenomenal woman and she clearly shows confidence when she says "And to a man, the fellows stand or fall down on their knees. Then they swarm around me, a hive of honey bees." The theme of this poem is the confidence of a woman.
The poem "Phenomenal Woman" is about how a woman is seen in the society and how she actually is. The poem shows no matter how a women is, she is always noticed in society to be a certain way. In this poem, Maya reminds of the strength and beauty of women, the energy, wisdom and belief of a woman. Being a woman is indeed a blessing, the strength a woman hold can not be measured and balances life and the situation that come in front of her. Women are strong minded beautiful human being.
In these three poems we can see the theme of "woman power" shown in different ways, in "Phenomenal Woman" we read about a woman who is confident and loves herself the way she looks, although she might not fit society's mold of a perfect, model size woman, she talks about how there's so much more to her than her physical appearance and that's what many don't understand. In "Loose Woman" it shows woman power because this is a woman turning against society's rules and norms and basically paving her own way, she's a woman who speaks her mind and doesn't care what people say about her. "Wonder Woman" shows this theme as well by talking about different women from different backgrounds but towards the end, saying that all of these women are the same at the end, because there are things that all woman go through, one of them being pregnancy/childbirth.
In the poem "Phenomenal Women" by Maya Angelou, the theme is about the beauty within herself and inner body. You should accept the way you are, because you are beautiful it doesn't matter how different you might look from the expected looks.
In the poem Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou the theme has to do with inner and outter beauty. How woman view themselves as to say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There is no one specific way a woman is beautiful but many ways.
The poem is a strong and influential work of art . It is made for the average women rather than Individuals with perfect bodies. The poem expresses in each stanza an enormous amount of confidence , her beauty resides in her body acceptance and ladylike behavior and pride in womanhood. Therefore she is impressive or extraordinary. Woman power is encourage by building inner confidence throughout imagery , rhyme and humor. The message is that " the cover of the book is not so good unless there is happiness, acceptance , conformity , self stem, character, confidence within the self of every women " The poem if read by a woman evokes feelings of dominance over the opposite sex as well as the sense of confidence and empowerment minimizing men in intelligence when they dont seem to understand what is it that attracts them to her s much.
The poem "Phenomenal Woman" by Maya Angeluo talks about a womans confidence and the fact that a womans confidence lies within herself And she is always admired for the confidence that she showcases outwardsly because once your confident on the inside, it shows on the out side.
